I have been working as a location scout & manager since 1996. This has given me an extensive knowledge of the UK & I have shot in almost every county. Outside the UK my scouting has taken me around the world on some fairly spectacular jobs – the highlight of which was most definitely being the main location scout for Tarsem’s extraordinary movie The Fall which shot at some of the world’s most amazing locations in over 20 different countries. Particular areas of speciality in the UK aside from the London area are Scotland, the South Coast & the West Country where I now live.
For every job I make sure that I learn the style of each director or photographer so that I can really get inside the brief & see locations with their creative eyes. I have always put a huge emphasis on how I look at and photograph locations getting just as much pleasure from finding those tiny details that make a shot as I do from pulling off heavy-weight logistical shoots. This has led to long- standing working relationships with some great creative talents in both film and photography.
Personal highlights in recent years include Dougal Wilson’s wonderful commercial for John Lewis’ 150th anniversary which took us from the 1920’s to the current day at 28 locations over 10 days. Also the logistical monster that was Henry Alex Rubin’s award winning “Welcome Home” commercial at Heathrow for T-Mobile and on a more creative level the beautiful series of films made recently by Damien and Leila de Blinkk for Scottish Widows.

In my 19 years of Location managing I have covered every side of filming (features, drama, commercials, stills etc). This has taken me to every corner of the kingdom, to the remotest field/beach/forest/road to the top of council estates in the heart of London, Glasgow etc and deep down into the sewers. I have been to more towns than a sales rep, more houses than an estate agent, more greasy cafes than a builder, more hospitals than a doctor. I have been asked to find both the bizarre and the mundane , from visiting brothels to photographing the lids of toilet seats in Service Stations from London to Glastonbury. In the process I have drunk tea with Lords n Ladies and shared Special brew with down and outs under the Arches and all in the name of LOCATIONS.
