Brilliant Barn Conversion Locations

Coming in all shapes and sizes, no two barn conversions are quite the same. Traditional or contemporary, spacious or cosy, these versatile locations make gorgeous backdrops for a film shoot, and are great examples of how an old property can be given a second life. By their nature, they're located in some of the most picturesque areas of the UK, and with the days getting a little chillier, they make the perfect setting for a rustic autumn shoot.

Originally designed for keeping livestock, many farm buildings had to maximise light and ventilation, meaning that large windows and high ceilings were key. This translates to airy, atrium-like spaces in modern barn conversions, as well as beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the house with natural light.

Characterful existing features such as stone walls and exposed beams also help to give barn conversions their unique feel. Rustic and cosy furnishings like vintage rugs, farmhouse tables and wrought iron fixtures all enhance the traditional feel of a warm haven away from the elements, as well as that iconic stone or brick exterior that gives country barns their charm.

Others lean towards a more modern feel. The interesting angles and lines of barns often lend themselves well to a contemporary look, and by balancing old and new, the house can take on a unique and timeless style. Large, sociable kitchens, polished floors and eye-catching textures are all features that can put a modern twist on an old favourite.
