Now that the cold weather has set in, the thought of a rainy afternoon spent in a comfy armchair surrounded by books is more enticing than ever. With their striking architecture and endless nooks and crannies, libraries make brilliant filming locations for everything from fashion shoots to cosy crime dramas. Here's a few of our favourites.

Beautiful libraries and studies can often be found hidden away in grand country houses, complete with ornate chandeliers and antique reading lamps. These spaces are brilliant for creating detailed and colourful backgrounds, and are rich with their own history and charm.

One of the best things about libraries is the variety of spaces on offer. Historic, public libraries often feature grand atriums, towering pillars and winding staircases with plenty of scope for drama, but there's always a secluded reading room to be found for those quieter scenes.
