Post-Apocalyptic Filming Locations
With the return of 'Black Mirror' and 'The Last of Us' plunging us into strange futures, we thought we'd explore some of our most atmospheric, dystopian locations. Abandoned buildings, houses overtaken by woodland and eerie landscapes all make great settings for filming visions of an earth yet to come, so here's a few of our favourites.

There's something inherently futuristic about brutalism. The simple, geometric shapes and the weathered look of concrete give this kind of architecture a cold, imposing feel that's perfect for dystopia. Robust and hard-wearing, it's also easy to imagine that these structures would be among the last to decay, making them ideal settings for post-armageddon scenes.

Industrial locations also make great dystopian settings, particularly out-of-use or derelict sites. This redundant power station has a huge variety of shoot areas, from bleak landscapes and seascapes to empty buildings and rusting equipment.
E24706, Hampshire
The eerie familiarity of derelict buildings makes them instantly atmospheric. This empty Odeon cinema is a unique filming location, complete with cafe, theatres and foyer, all in a state of slow decay.

Equally, this empty hotel (above) has proved to be one of our most popular shoot locations owing to its striking decor, particularly the reception area and skylight that casts a ghostly glow over the interior. It has a huge variety of characterful areas that make it the perfect place for a chilling dystopian scene.
