DETAILS

18th-century cottage, adjacent to a cricket pitch, set in 125 acres of parkland

Grade II listed cottage and built in traditional Northamptonshire stone,. This a registered parkland because of its historical importance thanks to its follies and statues. We have a cottage garden and the house sits directly next to a small cricket pavilion and the cricket pitch. As well as a rambling rose, there are two climbing pear trees at the front of the cottage, which look absolutely beautiful when in flower.

Behind the house are paddocks, stables and the parkland beyond. This includes two lakes, ponds, streams, tracks, woodland, mature trees, spinneys. Some of it is very well kept and other areas are quite wild. As well as the stables behind the house that we use, there are various outbuildings and stables dotted around the park, as well as the estate yard. Aside from the sheep that graze the parkland for much of the year, we have lots of animals including horses and some rare ouessant sheep.

The house itself has a very large open-plan kitchen living area, complete with an dark-purple aga and large farmhouse-style table. We also have a small bootroom where we keep our horses' saddles and bridles, boots, riding hats as well as hunting paraphernalia. Despite being a cottage, the ceilings become higher as you climb the stairs so is surprisingly light. Two of the bathrooms have recently been refurbished. One features a beautiful 'ogee' window. The bedrooms are all light and airy. The first floor has four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

There is an attic floor, complete with A-frames. Here you will find an additional two bedrooms and a bathrooms.

Our house is a family house (we have three children) so there is a climbing frame and trampoline in the garden, plus all the things you might expect in a family home. All the photographs have been taken by me, so are no professional shots!
