Futuristic Filming Locations
With the huge success of Project Hail Mary and Steven Spielberg's mysterious Disclosure Day set for an early June release, cinema is having a space renaissance. The Artemis II mission marked a new era for space travel, no doubt inspiring plenty more filmmakers to create science fiction, so we've pulled together some of our most futuristic & unearthly shoot locations that can be found here in the UK, no rocket required.

What makes a location look futuristic? Rounded edges and organic shapes in architecture can give a building a feeling of otherworldliness. Lighter colours provide maximum contrast between light and shadow, giving structures a more striking shape. Fluid lines and plenty of glass create unity between the outside and the interior, moving away from the more geometric, retro styles of the mid century.

Nature-filled, eco-friendly locations can be brilliant for representing futuristic worlds - integrated with the countryside around them, they have a utopic feel, co-existing with the natural world and finding ingenious ways of being self-sustaining. The natural pond at H23006 is a particular favourite, a picturesque oasis that could fit right into a sci-fi future.
