Winter Wonderlands
We've all seen the Christmas films - the countryside cloaked in snow and each rooftop draped in glistening white. Although most of us in the UK won't experience a coveted white Christmas this year, we thought we'd show you some of our favourite snow-covered locations to get you in the festive spirit.

Few locations can match up to this impressive Norman castle in Essex. Complete with a banqueting hall, tapestry room, an impressive four-poster bed and plenty of fireplaces, it would be a cosy setting to spend a snowy afternoon. And it all adds to the medieval feel - there's nothing more dramatic than a battle scene in the snow!

There's a fresh, natural feel that comes with snow, and certain locations can take on a completely different feel. The sleek, modern architecture of H22813 can seem organic when covered in a blanket of snow, and even the wind turbines at H21724 appear ghostly and serene in the winter weather.

Snow can also highlight areas of a location that might not catch the eye in other kinds of weather. It picks out rooftops, garden walls and the branches of trees, bringing attention to areas of the scene that you may not normally notice. Even from an interior, it adds to a setting - snow on the windows and front lawn can make the fire in the lounge seem even warmer and the dinner on the table seem even more delicious.

Even if the closest we'll get to a white Christmas is re-watching The Holiday, we can still appreciate how brilliant our locations look in the snow. At the very least, we can hope for a heavy frost.
